Matching Gift Program

Chubb Canada’s commitment to enriching our communities and helping the less fortunate is supported by our Matching Gift Program.  The Matching Gift Program applies to employees of CICC and CLICC with at least 6 months of service.  As part of this program, we match 50% of individual employee contributions, from a $25.00 minimum to an aggregate maximum of $20,000 per employee for each calendar year.

CARE Committee

The Charitable Actions and Resources for Employees (“CARE”) Committee represents Chubb Canada’s strong commitment to community outreach and philanthropic initiatives.  The CARE Committee empowers CICC and CLICC’s employees by providing them with opportunities to volunteer and fundraise for registered charities and not-for-profit organizations.

The CARE Committee works to support annual events including: United Way Week, Hope in Bloom (Parkinson’s Canada), and the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (“WICC”) Relay for Life.

In 2018, the CARE Committee was responsible for helping to facilitate 985 hours of charitable work by our employees.  Through the efforts of the CARE Committee and our employees, over $117,901 was donated to local charities and not-for-profit organizations.

CARE Days

At Chubb Canada, community involvement and volunteerism are an integral part of our culture. As part of the CARE program, employees of CICC and CLICC are eligible to receive up to 15 hours of paid time away from the office to volunteer at a Canadian registered charity of their choice.  For cases of extraordinary charitable work, employees may receive an additional 5 CARE days per year.

Chubb Canada in Action

Annual Toy Drive

Employees of CICC and CLICC participate in an annual holiday toy drive. In our Toronto office, each floor was decorated for the holiday season and had a CARE Holiday Corner – a place where employees could leave a gift donation. In 2018, the CARE Holiday Corner campaign supported the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association by donating toys to over 590 children.  6 of our employees also volunteered an afternoon sorting and organizing toys at the Firefighter’s Toy Warehouse.

In our Vancouver office, our employees partnered with Covenant House and participated in the Christmas Backpack campaign for homeless youth. This initiative provided backpacks filled with new clothes, gift cards and reusable water bottles, for youths in need. As part of the holiday campaign, $250 was donated to Aunt Leah’s Place, a lower mainland organization that helps kids in foster care and young mothers who no longer qualify for foster care.

Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (“WICC”)

Chubb Canada is a National Platinum Sponsor for WICC.  In December of 2016, Chubb Canada committed $15,000 each year over a three year period in support of WICC and its initiatives.  In furthering its partnership with WICC, Chubb Canada participated in WICC’s Relay for Life event which supports the Canadian Cancer Society. All Chubb Canada employees and their guests who participated in the event were given Chubb-branded attire as they celebrated cancer survivors and fundraised for ongoing cancer research.  Over $16,400 was raised by Chubb Canada for this event, including $8,600 from our Matching Gift Program.

United Way Campaign

In 2018, over $170,000 was raised by CICC and CLICC’s offices for the United Way as part of the United Way Campaign, including a 50% match from the Chubb Charitable Foundation.  Our employees in Toronto participated in Film Fest 2018, a week-long campaign centered on the theme of movie genres, and the tag line “this movie night can change lives”.

Combined’s 2018 United Way Campaign involved many fundraising events including an auction, an international food festival, a day off draw, a farm produce sale, prize draws, a pizza day, and the ability to wear jeans for a week contest.  , Combined matches 50% of its employees’ contributions during the United Way Campaign, which led to over $14,000 being raised.

Partnership with Sistering

In Toronto, Chubb Canada’s IMPACT Business Roundtable organized a Charity Spin Class, which raised $3,000 for Sistering, an agency for at-risk and homeless women.  Additionally, Chubb Canada sponsored the Executive Women in Insurance Network’s (made up of senior women leaders & broker partners) Holiday Breakfast; which resulted in over 40 gently used purses and handbags filled with every-day items being donated to Sistering.

Adopt-A-Stream Crossing Program

Combined’s Green Committee, which promotes environmental friendly alternatives and inspires employees to be environmentally aware, enlisted the efforts of 9 employees to take part in the “Green” campaign.  As part of this campaign, these employees participated in York Region’s “Adopt-A-Stream Crossing Program by donating an afternoon of community cleanup at Beaver Creek in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  In previous years, employees at Combined planted trees along the stream at Beaver Creek to assist York Region in hitting its tree planting goals.

Get Loud for SickKids Foundation

On September 29, 2018, 9 of our employees together with their families participated in the Get Loud Walk to raise funds for SickKids. The Get Loud Walk involved a 5 km march through downtown Toronto with over 3000 supporters of SickKids. After the march was completed, SickKids held a festival celebration featuring chart-topping bands, Toronto’s best food trucks, and family activities. This event was a huge success, as our employees raised $10,395 for SickKids, which included over $3270 from our Matching Gift Program.

Paralympic Foundation of Canada

Our Vancouver office raised almost $25,000 (which included a 100% match from the federal government), in support of the Paralympic Foundation of Canada.  Through generous donations and a fabulous live auction, we exceeded our initial goal of raising $10,000 (which is the cost to buy a single racing wheelchair for a Paralympic athlete).
