Summer Programs

Our summer internship program offers the chance to have practical, real world experience at one of the world’s leading P&C insurance companies. The experience begins with onboarding and training and then quickly moves into specific project work where you work directly with Chubb team members and executives. For those who excel in the program, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss full-time employment opportunities at Chubb after graduation.

Underwriter, Chubb Personal Risk Services

Four years ago, I started at Chubb as an intern in Personal Risk Services. What was most special about this experience was that Chubb tasked us with projects that were meaningful and impactful to the business’ bottom line. From developing new business prospect lists, to streamlining the risk inspection process, to testing out new pricing initiatives, our day-to-day was filled with new and exciting challenges. Interning gave me insight to what it would be like to work at Chubb full-time – and I liked what I saw! My current role as Underwriter continues to be complex and dynamic, allowing me to learn something new each and every day. What’s more is that Chubb has afforded me many opportunities outside of underwriting as well. I’ve had the opportunity recruit and train new interns and Professional Associates. Furthermore, we take great pride in our work and take time to celebrate our achievements. As Co-Chair of the Toronto Social Activities Committee last year, I had the opportunity to plan social events for over 500 employees. Company initiatives like this make for an exceptional employee experience. For all of the reasons listed, I am excited for what’s next for my time at Chubb.

Having recently moved to London, England as part of Chubb’s Internationalist Program, I reflect on my decision to join Chubb five years ago. During my time in university, I worked closely with Chubb representatives through my involvement with student clubs and conferences and quickly realized that they were people I could happily work alongside after graduation. After researching the company and speaking with recent recruits, I discovered Chubb’s many sports teams and committees but ultimately joined for two reasons - the drive, talent and energy of Chubb’s people and Chubb’s world-class training program. Following a summer internship in Chubb’s Commercial Insurance department, I began my career in Financial Lines, where I analyzed complex publically-traded companies, met with their CEOs and CFOs, and negotiated policy terms with insurance brokers. Through internal and external training, Chubb provided me with the resources and tools to learn, develop, and succeed in my role. Two years ago, I was given the opportunity to help build Chubb’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) insurance business in Canada. Working closely with the New York team, I have been responsible for developing Canada’s business strategy, and for sourcing and underwriting Canadian M&A deals. The Internationalist Program is the latest example of Chubb’s commitment to developing its people. In London, I am a part of the team tasked with growing Chubb’s M&A business outside of North America while continuing to have the support of senior mentors in Canada, the U.S., and overseas.

During my time at the University of Calgary, I was looking for a career where no two days would be the same, a career where I would be challenged to use a variety of skills such as analyzing, building relationships and developing strategies. I was a summer intern at Chubb in 2013 and quickly learned this company would allow me to have a career which would utilize those skills. The people are talented and driven and the company is committed to developing the necessary skills that allow me to excel at my job. I returned to Chubb to begin my career as Commercial Underwriter in the Energy Resources Group after graduation. In the Calgary office I have the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of people who support each other and have fun along the way. As part of a large global company, there is a variety of exciting development and career possibilities that make me happy to be a part of the Chubb family.

COO, Chubb Personal Risk Services

"I’ve always been tapped to try ambitious assignments, even before I had to raise my hand. I started here as an intern and three months in, the company was having me make a pitch on a large auto parts manufacturing account. Chubb has moved me to different divisions, geographies and positions - pushing me outside my comfort zone and providing support. I’ve been constantly challenged and had great champions. The experiences provided in my internship gave me a compelling glimpse into what has become an exciting career with Chubb.”
