Judy Gonsalves, Vice President, Chubb Group
Division President, Chubb Bermuda
Judy Gonsalves is Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, Chubb Bermuda. Ms. Gonsalves has executive operating responsibility for the Bermuda-based commercial property and casualty (P&C) insurance business that writes high-limit excess liability, property, directors and officers, and political risk coverage worldwide. In addition, she leads all strategies around production, product development and management, and profit and loss performance for Chubb Bermuda.
Ms. Gonsalves has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to her current role, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Chubb Bermuda from 2010 to 2018. Ms. Gonsalves joined Chubb Bermuda (formerly ACE Bermuda) in 1992 as an Assistant Underwriter in the excess liability department and was the company’s 42nd employee. In 2004, she was appointed Senior Vice President, assuming product line management responsibility for ACE Bermuda and ACE Bermuda International’s catastrophe excess liability portfolio. She was promoted to Executive Vice President in April 2010 and named Vice President, Chubb Group in October 2018.
Prior to joining Chubb, Ms. Gonsalves began her insurance career in the risk management department of the Captive Reinsurance division of American International Group (AIG) in Bermuda.
Ms. Gonsalves sits on several boards. She is currently a Board Member of The Adult Education School (Bermuda), Board Director of The Bermuda College Foundation, Trustee of Chubb Bermuda Charitable Foundation and is a member of The Insurance Supper Club and a coach/mentor for WeSpeak, a new organization in Bermuda that focuses on the professional development of women. She has also been recognized with a 2008 Business Insurance Woman to Watch award, a nomination for the 2017 Business Insurance Woman to Watch and is a 2019 Insurance Business Elite Women of Insurance nominee.
Ms. Gonsalves holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Psychology from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, and she is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
